Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said the path of righteousness shown by the pioneer of truth, non-violence and good conduct, Gautam Buddha, is always worthy of emulation and internalisation by us all.
The Vice President stated this in a message of best wishes he gave on the occasion of the 2564th Buddha Jayanti (birth anniversary of the Buddha) today. He said the significance and relevance of the Buddha's teachings of peace, compassion and non-violence has increased even more so in the present context of the world when people across the globe are seeking material and spiritual happiness.
Stating it has become necessary for the entire human race to be united and have patience in the fight against the coronavirus and to get victory over it, he reminded that the precepts of the Gautam Buddha have become more relevant in the present difficult situation of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vice President also expressed the belief that internalising and following the Buddha's teachings would give inspiration to fight against the common enemies of the human race including coronavirus pandemic as well as to fostering goodwill, brotherhood and sustainable peace within the nation and the whole world.
Similarly, Vice President Pun has extended hearty best wishes to the entire Kirant community within the country and abroad on the occasion of Ubhauli and Chandi Poornima festivals today. These festivals are the biggest festivals celebrated by the Kirant community (Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar and Yakkha). He also wished that may the Buddha Jayanti and the Ubhauli festivals give inspiration to all to fight against coronavirus and to move ahead on the path of peace and prosperity.
