Kathmandu-Visiting parliamentary delegation of Bangladesh on Sunday paid a courtesy call on Chairperson of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina at the latter's office in Singha Durbar.
The delegation was led by Member of Parliament of Bangladesh, Manoranjan Shill Gopal. During the meeting, NA Chair Timilsina said the Constitution of Nepal has ensured special rights to Dalits and indigenous and marginalized communities and their participation at the federal, state and local levels. He also stressed the need for increasing cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh in the areas of education, health, trade, energy and agriculture. He also invited Bangladeshi citizens to visit Nepal on Visit Nepal Year, 2020 through the delegation.
On the occasion, Shill Gopal praised Nepal's legal practice relating to the rights of Dalits and indigenous community, stating that Bangladeshi government was at work to ensure rights and uplift the lifestyle of country's Dalits, marginalised and backward groups. He said Bangladesh would learn from Nepal in ensuring rights to the communities at the central and local levels and viewed that Bangladesh and Nepal should cooperate in the areas of trade, energy, education and tourism.
He also invited NA chair Timilsina to visit Bangladesh. The delegation is here in Kathmandu to conduct a study on rights and representation of Nepal's Dalits, indigenous and backward communities in the country's parliamentary practice.RSS
